How much to charge for house cleaning (from someone who runs a cleaning company)
I run a residential cleaning company. The price list that works is not the cheapest one in town; it is the one that covers your real costs and turns first visits into recurring clients.
Pricing models
Hourly, flat rate per visit, per room or per square foot. Flat rates by home size and cleaning type are easiest for clients to compare and for you to quote quickly.
What your price must cover
Wages or your own time, travel between homes, supplies, insurance, booking and invoicing time, and the occasional redo. Add them up per visit before looking at competitors.
Deep cleans vs. recurring visits
A first or deep cleaning takes longer and should cost more. Recurring visits are faster because less dirt builds up, which is why a lower biweekly price can still be more profitable.
Check your local market
Look at competitors’ posted prices in your area, then position on value: reliability, reviews, and easy booking.
