A CRM can cost from zero to thousands of dollars a month. The per-user price is only part of the real cost. Here is what a CRM costs a small service business in Canada, and what it is really for.

What a CRM is for

A CRM keeps every customer and request in one place: who called, what they wanted, which quote they got and what was done. For a service business, its main job is that no request goes unanswered and no quote goes unfollowed.

How much a CRM costs

Online CRMs are usually priced per user per month, often with a limited free tier. Add setup: configuring stages, messages and automations, yourself at night or with an integrator. That is often the most expensive part.

The hidden cost: the empty CRM

A CRM that needs data entry is empty after three months. The real cost is the customers who fall through the cracks meanwhile. A service business CRM should fill itself: every call, text and form creates its file.
